So i was at the dollar store and i was shocked to see they even sell lures. Dont know what they are called .. spinners, crank baits, spoons?! lol They had a pretty good variety. They even had lines, swivels etc

Has anyone used them? are they any good?

they are very cheap that's for sure.

Some of them are very effective. I like to put my own trebles on some of them, and certain ones are missing split rings at the top so you need to buy your own and put them on, unless you prefer to tie directly to the lure.

I am aiming to catch a 25lb muskie today on a dollar store lure, I will report back if I do!

Hey Never

Check for my post "Dollarama Gear". I think you will find many answers there and some you did not want to know, as Dugger said........lol.

Salmo you go bro!!!!!!!! :D

Lost precious fishing time due to last night's phone mishap. SOB. Have to make up for lost time, but I admit I'm moving slow today. When the heat hits, it's not going to help. I think it will be an evening bite. Was hoping to go for lakers today, may have some time for that tomorrow morning.

:D cool little comparison this angler did between brand name lures and dollar store tackle

ya true you can see the inferior quality of them. when i'm fishing spots with lots of branches i start out with the dollarama lures in case i snag and lose the lure. but after a few casts and i feel like i can be accurate enough and notice there isn't a lot of branches under that i can't see, then i'll throw my regular lures. also if i go fishing with a noob then i rig them with the dollarama lures because inevitably they get snagged somewhere. particularly river fishing when they get tangled up in the branches above.

fish under 1.5 lbs i think you won't have a problem with landing them. but i had a medium size spoon from dollarama and one hook snagged into my carpet in the trunk. i was just simply pulling it out and SNAP! the hook broke.

but ya as others mentioned, i too have caught fish on them. some smallies and pike but nothing over 2lbs.

Thanks for posting this. Is it sad that I have some and recognize the dollar store lures?

Was exciting? He he wait till you see what I did to that frog lure, you'll think it's brand name............lol. ;)

I think you mean "Was Exciting!" instead of "Was exciting?"...

I agree with Dugger, I think you painted another spot and called in Spotty!

LOL Noobs! there there fellow Frugler, there there.... some day we will go back to Fancy Pants plugs....... some day

I've yet to catch a fish on a dollar store lure, but have caught fish on your favorite plug.... :D

lol somehow my favvy plug got corralled under the "dollar store" banner...... which I don't mind at all :D

so glad you have had success on it! It's a beauty cheap lil' plug, eh!

It's a great crankbait... I wish they made good deep divers for that price... -_-

P.S the lure were talking about is 4 times the dollar store one! :D
