Watching Vladimir's videos on grayling fishing in Siberia got me pumped up for my annual trip to interior Alaska in pursuit of trophy grayling. The blue dun dry fly is what we entice these fish to rise with. Although you can catch them on pretty much any fly, why throw anything else than a dry when they are rising?? It is hands down the funnest fishing I have ever done and each year doing it is yet to dissapoint. No video from 2012 as we just took photos but here is one from our 2011 trip. Again, great times on the river with great friends....Re-watching past videos to try and scratch the itch...lol

great aknook thanks for sharing, can't get over the water clarity and the under water in your face footage of the grayling cool

For those who dry fly, we salute you!

Batman's doing some work at the end, tell him if he wants to catch one he should throw his ball cap into the air right when the sun starts setting ;)

Awesome share man!

Be careful though...I recently had the same itch and got my friend to send me some pics of our most recent camping/fishing adventure (jeez do I ever need my own camera...). Anyways, long story short, far from satisfying my itch all it did was make me vow to go ice fishing. There is no cure. You are cooked. Cheers!

Did a search on grayling and just found this thread. The Vladmir videos are cool. You also gotta watch this video about grayling fishing. The first part's about regular fishing and the second is fly fishing. It's a treat to see the underwater footage of graylings feeding on bugs. If you watch it in HD, you can actually see the benthic macro invertebrates drifting.

You have no idea how much my heart started to pound when I read "dry fly" and "grayling" !

Thanks for the share AK!!

I can relate...although the interior BC Arctic Grayling don't get quite so big...but just as eager.

They hit just about any dry flies...Griffth's Gnat, Blue Wing Olive and Elk Hair Caddis. As long as you can present it right, they'll entertain you. My first Grayling hit the same fly three times before I sank a hook in it. Crazy little bugger.

awesome vid man thanks for sharing.

love the colors on the grayling.
i think out of all the fish up in alaska to get into thats gotta be one that interests me most
guess cuz we dont got anything like it down here hehe.

cheers
