Durham region Newbie!

Hey folks, got bit hard by the fishing bug late in the season last year after catching a decent sized Bass, and a couple more smaller ones. I've spent the last few months of this year just gearing up and hitting a bunch of spots (ponds, tribs, lakes etc) using Google maps in the Durham region. Nothing landed so far this year (Gobies don't count!), but I'm optimistic with the season for Walleye, Bass etc opening up.. It's been tough for shore fishing with the water so high everywhere.

I'm currently using a 7' Quantum NX24 Medium action spinning rod with 10lb braid and a 5lb flourocarbon leader (as of last week!). I've attached my current "go with me" tackle box assortment as well as my lone big bass below as well.

Let me know if anyone in the Pickering area is looking to hook up and head out for a bit of shore fishing. I'm available most days after dropping my daughter to school, and in the evenings!

I find this season to be very off in producing fish.

The only fish I see in abundance is carp, maybe ditch the lures and grab yourself a can of corn.

Not a big Carp fan, so switching my focus to smaller Panfish that I can catch and release until Bass season opens.

i wouldn't shrug off carp, they put up a fight like you wouldn't believe, 200 yard runs are common with the big ones,and theres nothing you can do to stop them

Ive had limited success with small pike recently. Carp have been everywhere though.

I would definitely not mind getting one on the end of my line, just for the fight they put up. As with everything else I've caught so far, they will be released with a pat on the back for a good fight.
