Early Spring Fishing

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to gather everyones thoughts on late winter, early spring fishing in the Humber. To my knowledge the ice and snow should be melting soon. What i wanted to know is, are there any decent spots south of Eglington? if so what should i use?

No problem Urban... The rule, although not explicitly stated, applies specifically to salmon/steelhead fishing. Since you clearly weren't referring to/looking for "salmonid spots", no harm no foul.

Anyways the humber river marsh has Pike, largies, rockbass, carp, white suckers, catfish. Lots of people are eyeing that place, get up go early and be there first to get the best spot.

My 1st choice would be carp, lots of them use a smelly doughball, or a lot of worms or corn from the cob or can, find a bay or drowning shrub out there and then sit and wait.

2nd choice would be pike they spawn there in april, they are sight and vibration and,ambush preadators mainly. Water will be dirty so usesomething vibrating and with black and a hot color scheme. Lookfor anyweed bed or drop off. Practice c & r.
