I've been out perching recently and I wasn't expecting them to be holding eggs, but 3 of them had skein/eggs. I wonder if they were simply developing their eggs early or actually spawning in the fall? In any case, I was delighted and I tied them up in roe bags.
Here is a marvelous video showing a very straightforward and effective way to clean perch. Used this method today for the first time and I love it. I only had my long fillet knife so I used a slight variation of this method. I had to slide my knife directly into the fish rather than just sliding the tip along for the first stage, the rest was the same.
