Family fishing outing around Hamilton

Looking to head out today with my wife and daughter to do some fishing/picnic. Are there good shore spots around the Hamilton area that have decent bass fishing from shore, (or any other species) and have a good spot to picnic? We are coming from Kitchener-Waterloo Please PM :)
