Steelhead Master
I get close to 100 days for the 9 hot months of the year starting with fall salmon, fall steel, winter steel, spring steel. August to May in the rivers. June July and the first half of August suck, because I don't have a boat or a cottage, and just am generally busy doing other things.
Quick report. Headed up north Monday morning for yesterday and today. I got out a couple of times with my buddy, family friend (who is 10 years old) for an hour or two stints at a time. Morning, Day, Night... took advantage of it all. Muskoka is a HUGE body of water. Pros ... lunkers can kick around for ever and can hide their whole lives.... Cons... good luck findings them, or anything for that matter sometimes.
I ended up with a decent smallie, a small pike (however I like to think its no hammer handle..) which I got ON THE PIN .. one of the coolest fishing experiences I have had, and I got a beauty eye. For a day of fishing, I am stoked. And then, our last outing just before dinner today, my buddy who was facing a big ol' skunk proved Quality > Quantity. I will let the last picture speak for itself!
And then this was all on his own. 27" 11lb walleye. He is hooked for life. Unreal. I am so happy for him that he was able to hook this, fight it for about 5 minutes and we got it in. If this isn't worth a thousand words I don't know what is. Feels good man.
