Hey Guys, it's been a while since I've posted, but I had to share this beauty. I wish someone would've told me Walleye can put up such a strong fight, I would've targeted them a lot sooner.
So the story behind this Monster( to me at least), I was at Scugog Lake last sunday with a few friends. We decided to go up and rent a boat, try our luck with walleye and muskie, neither of which have any of us ever caught, so I was skeptical if my "research" was going to pay off.
Well it definitely did, and did it ever pay off quickly. We had only been on the water maybe 20 minutes, just getting a feel for the depth and structures in the water. I had a 1 oz Big hit Spinner bait on with the lifelike rock bass imaging on the blades. I casted a few times towards a few bigger weed beds, and then maybe my 10th cast I hauled out towards a transition spot between weeds and a rocky clearing, and my rod doubled over hard. I set the hook and all I could think was, Damn this is a really strong fish for a lake, this has to be a smaller muskie. I fought him for about 5 minutes, slowly getting more excited as I knew this had to be a first of a species for me, and finally he broke the water just before my buddy netted him.
I pretty much immediately fell in love with walleye because of this guy Lol. If anybody knows any decent lakes between Toronto and Cambridge for Walleye, let me know haha.
And for the walleye lovers, what lures do you find catch you the biggest eyes?
