First Attempt at a Popsicle

first one, head is a bit messy, but its the first time i've used the hard head epoxy

I replied to your PM but ill post it here so others can see it too. As you mentioned the head is less than perfect, remember 3 wraps to secure material. As for the rest try to make the fly either a little sparser or use marabou with less "fluff" and straighter fibres. Apart from that great tie for your first!

Hey JMatt, you are moving along well. Been busy here but will PM you again soon.
Most novices (and even me sometimes) get excited about the fly and crowd the eye. You haven't exactly done that, but the main rule is, "No material is tied in closer to the eye that one eye -width". This leave space for a nice thread head and finishing.

Much better! If you get some of that non fluffy marabou you can make it bulkier and it'll look even better.

thanks! i actually tied in a dubbing ball behind the tie in point for the marabou to give the front some bulk without having a massive amount of marabou in there

A little too much orange/red marabou, but heres my first attempt at a popsicle, I found it quite difficult to wrap the marabou. Then again it was my first

You guys see how thin the marabou is in chase's pics is? That's what you should be looking for.

Hey chase, what do you use under that marabou to get that body? Fox? Laser dub?

Polar chenille with a dubbing ball behind is an awesome maribou prop!

I'll use fox for my intruders C...but popsicles and hobos I might go with a small trilobal ball of dub in the back and an inner collar of polar chenille...

Sounds like a good mix! Although personally I HATE trinobal, extremely slippery even with wax.
