First Salmon on my new Rod

Caught this one this afternoon at bronte. As you can see i'm a little more than happy about it. Only fell in twice trying to get it out, and our only net was a 7 inch long trout net. No more v card for me. My best guess is a Chinook salmon

Nice fish! Thats a good spot you're at. My wife pulled 4 hens out of tht spot last year and 2 this year.

Also last salmon on this rod, i was cleaning up my gear tonight and the epoxy that secures the eyes to the rod shaft are all cracked. Seems i outfished my rod.

if you like the rod, jsut retie the guides to the rod. Tying eyes are simple, i have build many fishing rods and reparaired many. Just make sure to not cheap out on the epoxy (5 minute epoxy0 I only use that for a quick fix for 1 eye or 2, You can get good rod winding epoxy it takes time to set and requires turning of the rod manually so it doesnt pool up on one side.
