Just wanted to share my long-awaited first trout caught on a fly. Not a huge fish by any means but huge in my heart! A 9" brown caught on a black weighted barbless Woolly Bugger swung through a riffle. He must have either followed the fly from upstream or been hiding behind a big rock near where the strike was. Let the fly dangle at the end of the swing and after the first strip he hit it. Don't have a trout net and couldn't really tail him so I grabbed him carefully and quickly measured him, got some pics, and then resuscitated him for a minute in the flow before letting him go. He kind of hung out near me for a while which was cool too. Took me over a year of fly fishing and being mostly self-taught to finally catch a trout and it was worth the effort and wait!
