So, as you may have read from the "what did you buy today" thread, i started gearing up for fly fishing this summer. Two weeks ago I finally got my waders wet in the Grand, I went with a friend who has been fly fishing for a few years now. While I did catch a fish that day, it wasn't exaclty satisfying because I didn't realize I had a fish on until I started reeling in my line to cast again, it was little fingerling trout
This past Friday, I made my second trip out to the Grand, this time solo. I went really early, while it was still cool. When I got into the water, I did notice a few fish rising, just wasn't sure what they were feeding on. Tied on a BWO, cast it out few times, but go no hits. Then I notice the caddis flying around me, switch to a size 18 tan caddis, cast it out, mend my line and see the perfect drift heading right over the the spot I saw the fish...the fish hit my fly and reel it in fairly quickly.
It was nice second year fish, about 12"...It was great feeling to see everything come together to catch that trout. Consider me addicted! I'm going to try to get out out one more time before the season ends.
