Got some of these in my minnow trap, released them after the pic. Anyone know the species?

Got some of these in my minnow trap, released them after the pic. Anyone know the species?

They look like very young Walleye, or possibly perch - which are related.

Where did you get them? Not sure if its dirt or if those blotches are markings, if they are markings, these fish look messed.
The heads, eyes, and mouths deffinately look like a perch/walleye face.

Dont take my word for it though!

They're blacknose dace, actually western blacknose dace i think. Eastern blacknose dace are a permissible baitfish species, western are not on the permitted baitfish list.

I wonder if they are related to perch or walleye at all...

The bottom one looks like a different body shape than the rest...
