We all have one thing in common...we all love to fish...and even more, to fish and catch something.
When I was younger...I can't wait to show everyone what I caught and of course the compliments that come with it. Then came the time when I have to sell my gear (a cheap one) and continue with life. I honestly forgot about fishing...school, friends (who don't love fishing), parties and of course...girls...they do that to you. 9 years ago got married...2 kids...all the stress...still no recollection of fishing...they do that to you(sometimes). 4 years ago, I was at crappy tire shopping for tent (we're going camping) I wandered around the fishing section (next isle) nice sale. $24 for a set (with tackle) why not? Hauled in 10 pike on that gear until it gave in...I will mount it. Why? Ever since I bought it...I was smoke free...yeah...4 years. Fishing...it does that to you.

GTA Urban fishing has been great for me and I'm pretty much fed up of how people (anglers, hikers or what have you)neglect the environment we have. Just garbage everywhere...I have picked up garbage just to comeback the next day and see more. WTF?!

My next goals...
I want to conquer some waters I've never fished or had been skunked before and would like to try other setups just to see how versatile i can be....I will continue to participate in this forum but will try to minimize my posts...more time in the water i guess.

Tug...is a drug.

Tight lines...

I think we should have an off clean up, where we walk around cleaning thin up wearing our off t-shirts to promote the site and that we are respectable anglers

I agree the amount of trash is gross. It would be nice if the Lazy MNR would set up some sort of clean up campain, just to raise awareness about the amount of trash in our local waters. I would def participate in this. One thing I have thought of before was getting in contact with CP24 or some sort of news station and letting them know how lazy and underfunded our MNR is. Everytime the news rips on the police there is always some sort of change, so maybe if the news would bring some change to the MNR..... possibly government funded clean up programs or something.

this is a good idea, contact the govt directly or the news if that dosent work, we take it to a rally

It is disgusting to go to some places that are commonly fished.... Yeh some people say miseducation and its hard to hear but my dad took me somewhere a couple of weeks ago and caught 1 largie over 6-7 hours and he said that he use to come here with his brother and catch bass all day no problem. That was maybe 20 years ago when he went.... MY DAD leaves garbage there and I told him, when I have my kid (hopefully in the next 5-7....please god not sooner) I wont be able to drive an hour to catch bass because there won't be one if we keep all the garbage everywhere.

Guess what... he cleans up after himself now. I mean a lot of people don't care about this but at least IF you bring one of your buddies fishing or a girl or anything, at least teach them that. I'm afraid of the next 20 years lol. I just wanna be able to enjoy the outdoors but we gotta keep it clean...

I dunno. Just my opinion :/

Last season, quite a few of us did that for one of the eastern trib and also a western trib. It was amazing the amount of trash that was hauled out of the western trib. There was even a tractor tire! I'm definitely down for some garbage picking, but I think it would be best done after the salmon insanity is over with. I'm sure there will be plenty of trash then.

Definitely crazy how quick the garbage piles up. I dug up some pictures I have from last years clean ups.

This was from the west, tractor tire included. This group was a bunch of OFF members + CRAA.

And this was the haul we got from an eastern one that was organized through OFF. A great turnout, even people fishing at the time were putting down their rods to help us out.

The western trib was a two day affair southern part on Saturday and Sunday a little north, there were fewer of us on the second day, but we managed filled the back of a pick truck with garbage bags. Good times with great people.
