I may be going up to Blind River to do a job next week. I will be working all day but will have an opportunity to throw a line or 2 in the evenings.
Can anyone tell me about the place, I have never fished there. Does the Blind River itself hold anything? I pass through there at least twice a year
on my way to see friends in the Soo so I do have an idea of the area, but normally we only stop there for Timmys diesel or beer.
I am especially looking for areas close to the town itself as I will only have an hour or 2 each night to try my luck.
I would be shore fishing or in waders and like to fish any type of fish. ( my favorite is stream fishing for brookies.), but I imagine there is lots of pike and
'eyes in the area, what about rainbow?
I have all types of gear from ultra light to a 12 ft noodle rod and fly fishing gear as well.

Thanks in advance for any info you guys can provide either here or by PM ( if you known a secret speck stream nearby :) ) I keep my fish long enough
for a photo and normally carry out more trash than I bring so I won't hurt any places anyone recommends.
Alfie.

Im headin up to the Spanish River in week, I dont know much about Blind River, except my dad wont stop talking about the time he caught a sturgeon there in the 70's...lol
But I can tell u about the Whale'sback channel. If you can, rent a boat, and fish the channel, Best fishing I've had in years... Too many pickerel to count, cats, and monster pike. I highly recommend it. Blind River flows into it, I believe, so it wont be far...

Good luck

Geoff

Hey thanks Geoff. I've heard of whales back. As I said I'm going up for work and may only have a few hours a day to fish but I can't work in the rain and I certainly can fish :) Maybe I'll get rained out a day or 2 and take your suggestion about renting a boat.

I'm back from Blind river. I didn't have a lot of time to fish. I managed to fish 2 evenings for a couple hours each. Our motel and our customer were both right on the Mississagi River. Unfortunately I didn't get any walleye which it turns out are the fish of choice up there at this time of year. I did get 2 small bass about 1.5 lbs, they were fun and released promptly. I also got a number of nice perch. The customer we were working for told us he got lots of walleye the week before we came up, but he didn't get any last week so I guess the bite was off.
Note for Geoff, the skeeters are very thick right now, take Muskol by the gallon :)
