Adeline Park is located off of Cook’s Bay of Lake Simcoe. Right after ice melt, there is a fair run of panfish into these canals for a spring spawn. Due to its close location to the GTA, it is a very popular spot and there will usually be shoulder to shoulder fishing. The best times to go would probably be in the morning during the weekdays.

Frozenfire and I went to try it out on April 15 around 3pm. It was quite crowded and people were catching perch everywhere. Closer to 7pm there were some crappies caught but not many. I was able to catch an out of season large mouth bass under 2lbs in size. We decided to come back the next morning for another run.

On April 16, we arrived at Adeline Park at about 7am to be accompanied by three other vehicles. We used our ultralight set ups with small reels equipped with 4 lb test, slip floats, and plastic tubes on jig heads.

On my second cast, I was able to catch a crappie! My first one of the year/season, and it measured to be about 12 inches in length. I was quite satisfied and it was inspiriation for Frozenfire and I. He was able to catch many more. The average size of the other crappies were about 7-10 inches.

We fished for another three hours and called it a day. In the morning during the cold hours of the rising sun, only the crappies were in feeding mode, and most of the fish caught were slabs aside from the odd perch. As the sun came up and warmed the water, the perch and sunfish quickly overcame their sluggish state and were very aggressive. At this time, the crappies were mostly gone. We left at 10am. There were still crappie being landed, but definitely not like a few hours earlier.

Here are pics of the park and the many fishermen trying for crappie.

Nice photos, congrats on nice crappie.
I wanted to ask you a question. This place where you fished at, on a map it looks like a narrow strip of water coming out of Lake Simcoe. It seems that Lake Simcoe is very close, easily walking distance.
Is it possible just to walk to to the shore or access is off limit and this part of lake Simco shore is all "private property"? For instance, just a bit west, along Bruce ave (Bruce Street on Google), it looks like very easy to reach Lake Simco just by walking north from the end of Bruce Ave (street) ? But the question is it possible, are there houses and private property there (Google map shows no houses). I am just wondering, since you have been there. Your input would be very much appreciated!

I was driving around this area, along lake Simcoe last year , from Keswick up north and all shoreline, more or less , is taken, it is all private property and almost there is no way to access water. Very, very frustrating indeed.

Excellent report by the way! Who is the person behind the camera ? :)

Points deducted for not having a index as to what red & green means (even tho I know what i means).

btw... How is this location during end of april & may... is there a lot of perch spawning here aswell ?

God I miss perch fishing from Jackson's Point dock.

Lake Simcoe is definitely close and within walking distance, but most if not all of it is private property. It's a residential area... not much open space.
If you have a boat however, there is a launch there and you can access Cook's Bay that way.

It was me! :)

The red and green are labelled with arrows and 'fishable shoreline' and 'parking'

At the end of April and May, you'll mostly be catching small sunfish. The perch and crappie will have moved off back into deeper water.

Nice crappie, wondering roughly how long the drive up there was?

Well, Chibi and I live in Markham/Scarborough area, so it only takes us 35-45 minutes depending on traffic.

haha thanks frozenfire for helping me by answering the questions =)
