Used to get a lot of nice fish and quite a variety on the Credit at the QEW.
As Blair said, know the regs and avoid property issues.

It's private land so they could even call the cops! Back when I was younger and didn't know better I was walking there and got yelled at by some guy golfing. Apparantely I ruined his concentration

Be careful, you can and will get into trouble around there. The Golf course has a lot of influence with the local police and they will come to remove you if they see you on their property.
-Be aware and know the regs.

I may be wrong on this but I recall reading a few years ago that navigable water cannot be owned by private land owners and that these land owners do not pay tax on the riverbeds so they do not own the river or riverbed. To me I would think that, that would make you fine for boating or wading there.
Just stay off-shore.
Maybe one of our OFF info gurus, Blair or CC ( Blair 2 :) ) can shed some light on this matter because I cannot remember where it was that I read this.
As I said I could be wrong on this. So do not attempt at home kids unless you are sure.
That being said, I have canoed and fished the Credit from Inglewood to the mouth of the river a number of times and never had any problem.

Alfie.

You are correct, Alfie. As long as you stay in the water, you are not on private property.. The problem is that you will likely have to step onto their property, eventually.. and the course marshals are always present. Also have a chance of getting dinged in the head by an errand golf ball..
-IMO, not worth the trouble when there is so much fish-able water on the Credit.

Their riparian rights do NOT extend to include water as they do in NB for example...

Because your intent is to wade to a public site, it is my understanding that one can use the river bank for such a purpose...as long as it's understood it is for such an intent only...

Thanks Ninja and CC for confirming my thoughts. I am still not absolutely certain of waterway ownership, but in my mind no one should own any water way.

Alfie.

Thank you guys. :D
I live around that area and I've seen people climb down from Queens way/Glengarry Rd to the back of that golf club, and the Credit is right down there. There is actually a trod (as attachment shown) LOL
I also went down after a few people, also saw people fishing in the river.

You have 66' of shoreline to walk down if you need it. That's assuming the property owner didn't purchase that 66', but in doing so they'd have to mark it private property (not the case in all municipalities, you'd have to do your research).

I have a buddy who's a property lawyer, we've encountered this many times while navigating rivers. Nottawasaga is famous for this, property owners love to call the cops on people.

BTW I suspect the golf course owns the 66' allowance, they'd have the money for it.
