so I am from Ottawa an I went down to the credit didn't catch anything but I learned a lot I didn't have the right stuff so next time I will be much better prepared an with saying that what is the best lures to use an time of day to fish at

everything works, its about how you use it. were you at the ganny last night by any chance, i met a guy from ottawa there seemed like a cool guy

Saw three guys get busted by the gamers today they were so focused on snagging salmon they didn't even realize he was watching them throw big 1/0 trebels with a chunk of white yarn tied to it for 5 minutes till they finally hooked one in the tail and were cheering about it then he stepped out of the grass and busted them I was laughing my ass off at them :)

MNR is such a pain in the ass some times. I get that they have a job to do. I was at the credit yesterday with my son, finace and dad. we had 2 rods out (me and my dad were fishing) my son had his dinky rod which didnt even have a hook on it. I forgot my wallet in the car, he made me leave him my rod even though my son, dad and fiance were there. By the time I got back he had gone walking up the river with my rod and reel. I had to track him down to get my stuff back.

you got lucky, I believe you can be fined if you forget it (even in the car)

Legally speaking they can fine you, however its not common practise. it was the ONE time I didnt have it on my, its always in my vest, after my long weekend with a bunch of fishing I had to wash my vest, thus the licence was taken out.

If they do issue you a ticket, you just have to pop into the courts and show them you had your licence prior to the date of issue on the ticket. Waste of time all around.

I'ts a pain in the ass yes but im glad he was out there enforcing. Anyone could easily say their wallet is in the car if they let it slide like that. Always always have to have your license on you.

I'd have to agree here...I've run into similar situations while hunting where I forgot my license at home in my other vest because it was deer season and I had a blaze orange one on that weekend. The MNR officer had actually recognized me from a different conservation gathering and knew I had my license however it was still a reminder to never leave home without it, I always double check now. As NADO said it may have been a pain in the ass at the time and no one wants to have to leave to grab it or take a fine to court but I'd rather see them out enforcing than no where to be seen as blatant snagging is going on, among other things.

I still like the idea of displaying your license like hunters do in a pouch....that way they can walk around and visibly see who has and who does not have a license without giving themselves away to everyone else. Soon as they check one person for license...they expose themselves to all the snaggers...and word travels the co is down stream checking licenses. Plus it allows other anglers to report people wthout one being displayed.....and it should be instant fine no excuse.

NADO, I do agree with your statement. The MNR guy insisted that I give him my rod and reel with my son, fiance and dad agreeing to stay in the same place as I went off to my car. That is what got to me. There is no way I could be mistaken as a snagger. Light, line, small hooks, small and onlya couple split shots. No white bucket or anything for that matter to keep fish, not even a garbage bag.

He is then saying, I would leave my family there to avoid a $130 ticket? C'mon. If I was there alone with just my rod and reel and said I have to go to my car, sure. Rediculous.

I heard they did lay fines for a couple guys closer to the ice breakers @ the credit yesterday.

That would NEVER work, you will find TONS of people who just photocopy licences and display them so at first glace it will seem that they have one. Apon futher inspection you will find out there are 50 Sergie Slovacks fishing the river, same DOB And Ssame licence #.

It wasnt super busy, I wasnt fishing at the breakers, but I could see alot of people down there but also ALOT of debris, matter of fact I could see what looked to be a washed away bridge up on the breakers. I was fishing up river from the large bridge there were about 20 guys within 300 yards of my dad and I.

Wasnt densly fished but you can see alot of people up and down river.

You will know when the fish are there just based on the parking lot. I knew when I got there just seeing that there was tons of parking spots @ 1 o'clock in the afteroon there wasnt much to be had. I went mainly bc my dad wanted to try out his new float reel. Seems like family time with the elders are at a premium. My parents are always traveling. My mom legit just got back from Europe last night.
