i only use one type of knot for hooks / lures...im 99% sure that mine is not the best, and i should be using different hooks, but i am just so lazy to learn....My knot is like....
1. Through the hole
2. Wrap the side that went through back onto the main line about 4 - 5 times
3. through the hole between loop
4. Tighten to a decent tightness with the useless end and pull hard from the main line

In 1) above, go through the hole twice and you have a Trilene knot.

Between 3) and 4) above, go back through the new loop you just created and you have an improved Trilene knot.

I use either a clinch knot or a palomar to tie a hook or swivel, and use a double uni to tie my leader. For tying roe, I use a egg loop knot. The reason I am asking this question, is because I have been using these knot for a while and maybe there is a better knot out there that I haven't heard of. Rather than use a double uni knot, do any of you use a blood knot, seagar, or surgeon's knot to tie the leader on and why do you find it better?

Sounds like a clinch knot to me not a bad knot except where you only wrap 4 to 5 times I do this 7 to 8 times

whats it called when you go 7 tims around then through the hole again??? that wat i use like 100% of the time.

sounds like a half blood knot

Anyone agree?

It could bea half blood knot, but it could also be a clinch knot.

yep, it could be a clinch knot as well. totally forgot about that one lol :)

Clinch Knot has not let me down yet unless I do something stupid and tie it wrong most likely being in a hurry while fishing you rush it and the end result is disaster He he...

I use to use the clinch knot, but it has failed me a couple of times; lost fish and a lure. its all about the palomar and double uni now :)

I sometimes use the clinch knot but what I do is go through the loop at the bottom and top again to make it a little better. Lately I find myself tying more palomar because it's such an easy knot to tie.

I use the trilent know exclusively. Can't remember the last time it's failed on me. I rarely get breaks at the knot.

Just remember to moisten the knot, either by water or spit (I usually give it a little saliva) before you tighten. It really helps and you'll notice it.

I think the palomar knot is a good knot too, simply because you can tie it so much easier than the trilene.

Besides an arbor knot to tie the line to the reel, what other knots do you guys use?
I use an arbor knot and what I will do is wrap the line around the spool about ten times before I tie the knot.
