Hey Everyone!

My name is Jennifer and I am an Industrial design student designing a new light for outdoor activities. One of the categories is fishing. Since there are so many different scenarios of fishing I was hoping that many of you could help me out and give me your input.

Give a description of the kind of fishing you do (including how long and where you fish and where you sleep)
what kind of activities you perform on this trip?
what kind of activities do you perform when you are fishing?
what do you do when you are not fishing?
what time of day to you fish?
What do you carry with you when you fish?
do you ever use a light when you are fishing?
Do you ever carry a light, if you do what do you use it for?
Do you ever carry a light for emergencies?
Is there any problems you experience with current lighting products?
If you wanted a unique feature from a fishing light what would it be?

Hi Jennnifer--good luck with the project...there are a few night stalkers on this forum and might be able to get you some much needed data.

On a side note, and please excuse my deference to all things lateral thinking...when you begin with a question such as, "where do you sleep" followed by others that may impact directly on HOW one "interprets" sleep...I think you get my slant n'est pas??

For those who help you will we get a sample of the final product?.....lol. Or will you show us your final design so we can make it? Most of us fish in different types of scenarios. I fish day or night.

On my friend's boat we have fished all night and we are using miners headlight that we turn on when we need it. We would sleep on the seats of the boat. Sometimes it's just for the day and come back before sundown.
what kind of activities you perform on this trip? We are fishing, eating, peeing over the side.....lol.
what kind of activities do you perform when you are fishing? Casting, re-baiting the hooks, casting.
what do you do when you are not fishing? Sleep, eat, talk or driving the boat to another location.
what time of day to you fish? Mostly day to late night. Sometimes all night long on shore or in a boat. When I'm shore fishing, I have a lantern and the miner's headlight.
What do you carry with you when you fish? Everything, folding chair, tackle bag, 4-5 rods, spare clothes, food, water, always forget the fishing net, cooler.
do you ever use a light when you are fishing? Yes, a 500 000 cp light, Coleman lantern and the miner's LED light.
Do you ever carry a light, if you do what do you use it for? Need the 500 000 light to get back to the dock when on the boat. For shore fishing I use the lantern to light up the area so I don't fall in the water and to see so I can take the hook off the fish.
Do you ever carry a light for emergencies? Yes in the car.
Is there any problems you experience with current lighting products? Leds are not bright enough and don't aim where I need the light.
If you wanted a unique feature from a fishing light what would it be? One that repels mosquitos and other bugs.
