Today I had a nice long conversation with a conservation officer today, and I learned a few things about fishing near dams and other in-water structures.
You cannot fish within 25 yards DOWNSTREAM of ANY sort of dam, be it huge hydroelectric ones or small ones for salmons.
The dams in Humber River, near Old Mills have a special regulation. You are not allowed to fish within 60 METERS DOWNSTREAM of any of the dams.
Old dams, such as those in Don River that have been left there for decades, follow the same rule as new ones. Even if they are broken, and not in use, you are still not allowed to fish near them (25 yards downstream).
Thought id share this with the community since I didnt know about the Old Mills rule (I thought it would be 25 yds like any other dam), and not being able to fish near old dams.
