Hooked with Mark Krupa was the best, I;m not sure anyone is airing it anymore, but he was a great fly fisher and the shows can be viewed online.
Katherin Mauroon on What a Catch also a great Fly Fisher. Not sure if that show is being aired either but old episodes can be viewed online.
Stay away from Charlie Wray and Dave Mercer, they are both morons..
Sportfishing Canada is not bad.. I have a wierd feeling about Bob Izumi.
If you want funny watch Bill Dance.

Sport fishing BC. This is pretty good show.
I like Italo's better than any other show, although I have WFN with tons of other shows. In other shows, they show they have fun and laughing and cool and do not reveal much of their techniques. Italo on the other hand gives out a lot. Like the guy and his show

I watch on average 0 hours of TV per month, but I will occasionally watch episodes online.
I vote for Italo's show too. Nothing against the other shows, I haven't really seen many others, but Italo just seems like a good guy who loves fishing so it's easy to relate to and learn from.

I can't stand italo he talks in a monotone and when he explains things I feel like he is talking to a slow person. Dave mercer may be a character but he is very knowledge and explains every thing he's doin and not only that the format of his show is the best because it's not filmed in multiple days and then edited into a half hour, it's like they say one day on the water and if he is having a rough day then that's what you see. WFN is a great network it has many shows that you can learn a few things from and some that are just to see people catching nice fish!!! Another great resource for learning things is Ontario Out Of Doors magazine because it deals only with things that affect us in Ontario. I've learned many new things since subscribing to it.

Anyone "catch" Dave Mercer today? I missed the beginning where they mentioned the lake he was on. But I watched the rest of the show, he fished 7 hours caught 11 SM and they all looked like in the 5lb+ and made 800 or so casts. His catch/cast ratio always seems to be about 1:100, sometime better but in general or the episodes I've seen that's what he's getting.
That is "real fishing", that's why he is a professional tourney angler. Anyone can say they caught alot of fish, this is the internet after all, but I think Dave Mercer is the most genuine of all the shows. The others take a week to tape and then they edit all the footage to make it look like all the fish they caught were in a day. Very deceptive and misleading. When Bob Izumi started his show they caught nothing and that's how they named the show, Real Fishing, not Real Catching.
Some guys naturally have a knack for fishing and catch alot of fish, that's why these guys go pro. Most of us have to work to find and catch fish, sometimes it seems they are avoiding my offer altogether....lol.
I have to agree about Italo, he talks like you're an idiot or beginner. He is knowledgable, maybe that's why he comes off that way, someone with a superiorty complex.

I have some thoughts on fishing shows, pro and con that I will share later but reading Chosen 1's comments I choked on my Corn Flakes laughing. I have been saying this for years about Canadian Sportfishing. Every show he talks and over explains like he is only talking to someone who has never picked up a fishing rod or who has only held one for an hour total or speaks a foreign language. Isimply cannot watch the programme anymore. I am sure he is the nicest guy on the planet but I guess he is targeting newcomers to the sport which is fine and needed. One show he taped in the Niagara Gorge by the Maid of the Mist dock and he kept saying no one can fish there, it is trespassing, he got special permission etc. Well what is the point of being there? You know guys have climbed down there after seeing him hauling in steelhead. It made no sense. Bring back Red Fisher! lol anyone remember Red? In the 90s, Al Linder's In Fisherman was ground breaking. If I see one more bloody fishing show on largemouth bass I am going jump off Niagara Falls.....geeesh already. Same crap different show. AND WHAT ABOUT FISHING FACTS MAGAZINE!!!!! Al Linder's mag back in the 70s and 80s..... FISHING FACTS MAGAZINE WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I bought my first jigs from the magazine (Linder's Northwoods Tackle) in 1974 and it completely changed Port Dalhousie forever. My god those were the days!!!!!!

I watch Fish'n Canada. I find the facts of fishing to be the most helpful as he shows his rigs, baits and how to use them. I mostly just you tube these shows, and almost never watch them on the t.v. I am also a subscriber to Ontario Out of Doors magazine and love it, it is soo helpfull! Cheers.
