Flat lining for lakers?

Have I missed the proverbial boat to catch lakers near the surface e.g. on Joe or Windermere? How deep do you think they would be by now? Any recommended techniques other than downrigging?

I would say that the bulk of the fish are in 30-deep feet of water right now. Besides downrigging you could long line copper if you would prefer to troll, may have to get a new set up for that though if you arent rigged for it now. My preferred method using any old rod and reel would either be a three way rig trolling ( mainline to a three way swivel, dropper to a ounce egg sinker and a leader to spoon) or vertical jigging which is by the best if you have the electronics or know how.
 
I agree with IR4J. 30' down would be my guess as well.
No need for me to repeat everything he said...lol
