Hey guys, going to head out to a fairly popular east trib on the weekend to meet up with some friends who want to try salmon fishing for the first time, and they have asked me to come along. I have only fished for salmon using roe and drifting egg flies on a float rod. I picked up a new 8wt a couple months ago for bass/pike fishing up north and want to give it a shot for some chinnys while I have the chance. Any tips on some flies I should tie up? Was going to just bring along some Black, Olive, Brown and maybe Pink woolly buggers, as well as some egg flies. I know it depends on where along the river I am fishing, and if the fish will even be on that day, but any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers

fer real. you can easily hook salmon with any fly of your choice. bigger the fly. easier it is to line them up.

Best bet is to stick with egg pattern under an indicator and drift throught the tailout, hopefully picking up a small steelhead or brown thats feasting on the salmon eggs.

Black cone-headed woolly bugger was the fly of the day. Thanks for the input guys!
