floating/sinking line?

looking for some advice about using floating and sink tip line, conditions and situations to use each?

I just started getting into this too. I think that you should use a float or sinking line that is dependant on how the fish are feeding.

If you see them surface for flies, floating line. If you're trolling for brookies/specs, sinking line.

Shallow waters less than 2' would require floating line too, I assume.

the 1 foot of 40-50lbs mono to your fly line, then do the perfection loop so you have 4-6" tag with the loop at the end,
get yourself few sinking leaders with loops at the end, this way you can change them faster using loop to loop connection
