Hello Everyone,

Newbie to the forum. I have a specific question about fly fishing in June, next week actually, outside of Bracebridge.

I grew up fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon on the Mirimichi during the fall run, so, fishing lakes in Ontario is foreign to me.

I'm hoping you guys will have some insight on what to use this time of year.

Thanks a lot,

A Google search of the Ontario Regulations shows the area you mention is in Region 15. At this time, bass season is not yet open. Last weekend north of Peterborough I did catch one in the weeds (released) that was obviously not on a spawning bed. I was fishing for crappie and caught 4 very large sunfish in about an hour. There were black caddis on the water, but the fish wanted a small minnow imitation - on a sink-tip line. You might also catch a walleye if you could get deep enough. I doubt there are many lakes with trout near Bracebridge, but am happy to be educated.
I don't know of any trout rivers near Bracebridge, the area is kind of flat for a good trout stream. But as above, I am willing to be educated.
For bass a 6wt rod is good, for the trout streams you probably want a short 4wt. Your salmon rod would be better for pike - maybe someone will respond with a good pike lake and some suggestions for large (size 2 or even 0/1) streamers.
