I'll be away for work , would like to fish the Grand. Just a suggestion for new casters, tie a bit of yarn on your leader, find a park with lots of space and practice there. It helps you figure out timing a bit you get a feel for the rod.

lol typo ill be getting out on the Friday with the new rod ill let you all know the conditions hopefully i can get out for the get together

Ill be up doing some prefishing near the end of the week. I wont be able to be at the meetup but Ill post info about water condition, hatch and flies so you all can have a good time out there.

And thanks man.

Just a heads up Kit, I have a +1 coming, I've only fished with him once but I'd put him somewhere between starting out and experienced.

Hey guys,

Does someone leave in downtown TO, Etobicoke, Mississauga or Oakville?
I can pick one or two people with my car. I leave downtown and I guess it will not be a problem.
Kit, anything to contribute?

Cheers

Gear question for this weekend since I don't have any fly equipment whatsoever.

Kit, you mentioned a white river kit.. http://www.basspro.com/White-River-Fly-Shop-Fly/Spin-Rod-and-Reel-Combo/product/44266/. Is this the one? Should i invest in something now or come out and learn what to look for and then purchase something?

I don't want to be a freeloader, but at the same time i don't want to drop $120 and then more $$ into a better line if it's not going to do the job type of thing. What do you guys advise?

I would say come out and feel a few rods (you can borrow one of my streamer rods for the day). If you want to get something beforehand the bass pro bugger outfit is also a decent caster, comes with a reel as well, 35 bucks and then you can think about a line.

Sounds good, Chris. I'll give that streamer rod of yours a go and if all goes well (which i'm hoping it does!), i'll hit up Lebarons and go from there.

I'm getting pretty excited about this.

Those looking for a starter combo...
Natural Sports in Kitchener has a decent startup combo (5/6 wt) for 99.99 ...see naturalsports.ca
Rainbow sports in Kitchener has all fly gear 25% off...you can get a decent combo there as well

Sorry I haven't been on to chat guys don't have a phone at the moment so cant get on here. If anyone else wants to come just show up. I know we are having a shore lunch but im not sure if ill have enough for everyone. So some wont be getting any and sorry if that's the case.

See you guys Sunday.
