I am thinking of getting my dad a fly fishing reel for Christmas but I have never fly fished before. What would be a good fly fishing reel to get? (my budget is 50 - 70$) If you could maybe post a picture that would be great!

Not much choice with that budget, to be honest.

You might want to look into a used reel around ebay, kijiji, this forum, and/or various other forums.

If you insist on buying a new one, or if you can't find anything used online, you can always check out the big stores. I see a couple reels under 100 on basspro. Not sure about the quality though as I've never used them.

My first fly reel was a Ross reel from lebaron. They go for around 110 i think. Decent reel, no complains. Although I'm not sure what is considered good as im still a novice in fly fishing...

Try talking to stores to get their input. I'm pretty sure all reels in that budget will be of the same quality.

If you went to 100$ you would get way better selection. You need to know what weight fly rod your dads is. Then match the weight rod to the same number reel.

A ross fly rise is about $110. I have this reel for a 5 wt rod and I have yet to find any faults in it. Its a Ross reel, meaning great lifetime warranty!

I was going to mention this as well as the Bauer but it's a little beyond what he wants to spend...like the Ross, the Bauer is a real workhorse of a reel.

Look on bass pro shops and cabelas websites. Also, look in local tackle shops to see what they have. If you order online, try to order from cabelas because cabelas ships to canada from Alberta and bass pro ships from the USA whick mean you have to pay extra fees.
