hello maybe looking into purchasing some fly fishing gear, could somebody tell me what weight rod would be best suited for the niagara whirlpool area and second what weight rod would you use for somewhere like the credit or bronte.any info, advice or suggestions would be great.

for river like niagara you would be best with spey rod.

for smaller rivers like credit 8-9 wt would be good for steelhead/salmon.
4-5wt for brookies, and 6-7wt for bass.

6-7 wt for bass?? Is that assuming you will be catching 4-5lb bass? I have a 4wt that I bought to use for bass and smaller resident trout, I havent caught anything more than a 1/2 pound on it yet though so I will have to see how it works out.

I have caught a 17 pound coho on my 6 weight going for bows and my rod didn't snap.
I would recommend 8-9 for salmon/steelhead
Once the salmon are gone, use a 6 or 7 weight
Once opener comes, use a 5,6, or 7 weight
For bass you can use a 4-6 weight
I would recommend a 6 weight fly rod because you can still fight a nice 8 pound rainbow with a nice bend and you can still fight a 1 pound bass with a nice bend

All around. . 6 or 7 is sufficient. Even if you accidently hook into a salmon. Learn about switching leader and tippet when targeting certain fish.
