Hello everyone,
Just got back from a short day trip to the French River.
I got access from the French River Supply Post & Marina. Parked my car and put in my Kayak in, the cost was $20
I travelled west on the river and had my best success right under the suspended foot bridge.
I got one Musky 27 inches but unfortunately I do not have a scale so I do not know the weight. But I was using a plastic Gobi. I only casted twice and must have put it right in front of him.
After I released him I paddled down a short distance and tried my luck again and had success on the same plastic Gobi, this time I got a Pike. It was 24 inches and both did not seem to give much of a fight. I was using an Ugly Stick GX2 with 14 lb line.
I then went and paddled down to the Rocolett Falls, portage a short distance and placed myself at the bottom of the falls. I had zero luck, I fished the falls for about 2 solid hours with various baits (all artificial) but had no luck.
To make matters worse I got my favourite rod snagged into a rock or submersed tree and my rod was pulled out of my hands and sunk straight to the bottom.... gone forever.
I am extremely new to fishing and even more inexperienced with kayaking, but regardless of my fails I am loving it
I hope this helps someone out their.
