Hey guys, Anyone know what the ice is like at Frenchman's Bay, I had enough time to take a quick look a few days ago but didn't get a chance to check the ice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!

i don't think it'll be long before it freezes up nicely but its too warm right now my guess would be a week or 2

i would think it should have 3-4 inches, best to give it a few days, bring an ice pick, check as you go, if you don't have much experience with thin ice, wait at least a week.

Since theres already dozens of guys out there any given day of the week might aswell share the info, was on it for the first time this season two weeks ago and we were sitting on a solid 6+ inches of the darkest ice possible in 10ft of water coming off the west side. For comparison we were fishing cooks bay the same week on barely 3 inches of ice, should be safe in the bay.

Not much of an ice fishing guy but I do frequent frenchman's both sides. I had mentioned before that there are little open water on the east side and it has been warm for a couple of days and was getting some perch & panfish action. give me small open water i will take it. I'm still new to ice fishing and despite the safety stuff I have for ice fishing, i still not confident enough to venture this early. the only time i really went for it was -15 to -20 for a week last year around february and it's not even the temps that got me riled up. it was the fact that people are there driving their vehicles in the middle of the bay. nothing spells THICK more than a gmc1500 running up and down like a snow mobile...lol

I was there yesterday. Pretty cold and windy! There were a few huts out but none of us were getting anything. I packed up after 2 hours and only marked maybe 2 fish the whole time and no bites. Man it's very shallow there, not really my cup of tea.

not really anyones cup of tea, lol, its ok for pike in the spring but in the winter its just panfish and dinky perch, the very odd pike that gets caught maybe twice a year, lol, thats why i don't really fish there.
