Frenchmans Bay/Duffins Bay: what did you catch?

I only ever get small fish on worms. Plus they're disgusting. I have the most luck on my cranks and spinners. I have yet to catch bass using top water lures like jitterbug, popper, frog etc.

there you go...a simple WHOLE worm on #6 baitholder hook can outfish any $3 + lure. try some small suspending plugs too.

I always use a whole worm, but they still bleed and this nasty black liquid always escapes making me want to GAG. I use #6 too. Still only small fish. Sometimes they just bite the worm around the hook. What is a plug?

My sister used to live close to Frenchman's bay so I've taken a boo down there a few times. I see people fishing all the time. But just like you never seen anything of size.

Then I saw a fishing show, cant remember who is was but they were fishing frenchman's bay with spinners and they were pulling out pike. Pretty small ones, biggest one was I'm guessing around 5-8lb.

So they are there, if Pike is what your going for. Panther Martin #15 in gold with orange tail. Go to crappy tire and try and find one. I've not used it at Frenchman's bay but in the Lake Simcoe area they go ham for em. *By ham I mean they go crazy lol

my profile pic is a nice example of a plug. it stays buoyant and sinks very slow = stay on the strike zone longer. but be careful because Frenchman's is a snagfest. I have great success on smaller plugs - 1.5" to 2" on bass. 3" to 5" on pike...in frenchman's.

I fished it once in my kayak. There's some nice "bassy" looking cover in the bay. I got Skunked but wasn't fishing hard. If you have Boat the better spot is out by the power plant.

Thanks for all the input!

I wouldnt take my boat out of the channel in order to get to the powerplant. The waves of lake ontario frighten me!

Just hang around marinas if you can and toss some senkos or spinners underneath the docks or lilypads.
