Ontario Fishing Forums

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

Probably just out here in the Durham region(Pickering, Whitby,Ajax, Oshawa). Can't see myself driving into downtown TO on a Friday. Especially since the rain forcast for tomorrow will put the fish off and they in all likelyhood won't be biting Friday anyways, due to higher water levels, dirtier water.

If you do decide you want to hook-up, bring that baitcaster, perfect time to try it out. Maybe bring a spinning reel for backup, just in case. :)

Dirk....

Hey Dirk:

Too bad I can't get away Friday. Any recommendations on where to fish for pike on Thursday, the 26th (preferrably the Pickering/Durham region)? Would you consider downtown be a better bet?

Os

Thursday I wouldn't fish anywhere. The day after rain will be incredibly slow.

Old Oshawa Marina in Oshawa, Duffins in Ajax, Rouge or Frenchmans in Pickering.

As for downtown, Iv'e had no luck there at all on my few outings this year. They are there, just not for me and others. OP, Humber, Spit, Ashbridges, TO Islands, Harbourfront.

Dirk

Thanks, Dirk... I'll give serious thought to leaving the fishing gear home & taking the camera instead. It'll probably be a better thing to do than getting skunked again!

Thanks, I am not sure yet. When did you plan to go? early morning, morning, mid-day, afternoon, ... ?

I will try to get out and if I can I will let you know (by thursday) so perhaps to go together. This would be my first time fishing in 2009 and I am all itching to go.

Thanks for the invite Dirk...but me and Tangledline are probabaly gonna hit the humber for some Steeleheads on Friday, But our thoughts will be with you! Good Luck.

P.s. I am waiting to see right now if I am going fishing, just waiting for that call!

Hi All
I will be probably hiting the Credit on Friday. I just hope there is not enough rain to cause the chocolate milk conditions.
I will start at Burhamthorpe to the 403 and back @ the falling rocks.
You cannot miss me I am the only one using a 10 1/2 FT St Croix Avid Casting rod and a Daiwa Steez.
Stop by and chat.

Jose

wow a steez! how good is it in action?

And Dirk, I may be heading back up to the holland on friday night. Feel free to join me if the pike / trout don't co-operate in the daytime ;)
Will probably be there around 7 or so til around 10?

Don`t let anything deterr you from fishing...the camera can always come as well, but don`t leave the rod behind...you may regret it!

Steez is the best casting reel on the planet IMO. Neck in neck my Shimano Calais the Calais is heavy, but super smooth.
Had the following reels and I sold them all
Daiwa TDZ
Daiwas Fuego
Daiwa Alpha F
Daiwa HSTA
Abu Garcia Premier
Shimano Chronarch
Shimano Conquest DC200

I was lucky enough that I bought it when the Canadian dollar was at par with the US dollar. LOL

Hey diggyj, regarding pike fishing on Friday, you wrote " The day after rain will be incredibly slow" , Forecast calls for rain for tomorrow too, do you think it will be worthwhile to try fishing on Friday then ?

I am headin out rain or no...actually it`s raining now, but is suppose to stop at about 4 am...and it will be a high of 9 or 10 tommorrow with sunshine early afternoon, now if that isn`t a perfect day for fishing than I don`t know what is...then it will rain thursday evening till early morning again, and then clear up again and become another great day, and I will be out on friday too!

Well, I think I will have to go out too, one of these two days. If anything I need to practice my bait casting so catching fish will be secondary goal,

Where did you think of going? I see that diggyj will probably be going somewhere in Oshawa or Pickering or Ajax. I am in mid town and for first time this year I just might go to Ashbridges Bay.

The rain isn't for sure on Thursday yet. Last I heard they weren't sure of the exact model. Rain might miss us. I am going out Friday regardless of weather. Weekend looks sh*t and I have busy days planned on Monday and Tuesday and then that's it for Pike. So might as well get one day. If it does rain tomorrow, I won't catch on Friday, just the nature of the beast.

Wow, that is impressive !

However, I have a hard time believing that this is "private collection" of only one person. I think guy is running a business, selling these reels ...
