Who out there likes to fish for fun and who fishes for the sport? I'm curious to get all of your opinions so I want to hear from as many as possible. I believe that more people fish for fun....any challenges?

Please clarify what you mean Jaimela...

If I've understood you correctly, you mean "fun" as in, you know, something you don't go out of your way for? For example, just something you do while up at the cottage to kill a couple of hours on a hot summer day?

When you say "sport" do you mean something that one takes more seriously? For example, keeping up to date on the latest gear, tackle and techniques... going on frequent fishing excursions, always trying to catch more and bigger fish?

If that's what you mean, then count me as 1 for sport. (although it's a sport that I have lot's of "fun" doing)

I wouldn't say that "fun" is something I wouldn't go out of my way for...it means that I'm not in it for the competition, I won't get dissapointed if I don't catch the biggest fish, I doesn't matter what the person beside me has caught for the day, etc. but I would agree that fishing could be something to kill a couple of hours with.

For sport, you would take it more seriously as you would be fishing more for the competition, whether against others or for yourself. If you are always trying to master fishing, whether it's coming up with new ways for catching them or always trying to catch a bigger fish, then you would be fishing for the "sport" of it...in my opinion.

I guess since you fish for the "sport" of it, you like the competitive side of fishing, even though it is also fun! :D

"I won't get dissapointed if I don't catch the biggest fish"

A true fisherman knows that catching the biggest fish is not what fishing is all about. Enjoy your tme outdoors and when u catch :D

When I use to fish it was for the fun, and going out with my grandpa early in the morn and spending hours at our fishing spots. But I haven't fished in a long time, and I'm just starting to get back into it with my friends. But I plan to fish for sport now that im older.
