Hey everyone!

My name is Rob, and finally I have had a successful salmon trip this year in September! After 2 years of trying! I have switched to fly fishing this year and I love it. You can catch anything on the fly, and it takes fishing to the next level. There is a lot of practice involved, but it pays off! So this year for the first time, I was fishing for salmon at Port Hope on the fly. And I had the best fishing day of my life. There was a fresh run starting in the morrning, and by the afternoon it was in full swing. I caught at least 15 fish during the course of the day, and my arm was sore the next day from fighting there amazing fish. I practice catch and release so they were all let back.

I am looking to try for steelhead this Nov, I heard that is the best time to try in the fall. If anyone has any advice on when to go and what river is the best around that area, it would be greatly appreciated. I am from Ottawa, so its a bit of a drive...

Well done! I would love to try salmon on the fly some time - or anything on the fly for that matter.

btw just would like to let everyone know that this stretch is currently closed til the last saturday of april.
right now u can just fish the gannny south of the c.n. bridge which is basically the mouth of the river.
