gator gar a challenge for even efka

i was researching bowfin fishing techniques and stumbled across this.....
efka is our gar pike expert as far as i am aware...i think he needs a field trip to the states...i say we all pitch in for gas. 8)

after looking at the pics of the gator gar i think they shot it on the otherside of the head with a gun...i do not think that the guy landed that beast with a broken rod and a bat ...no way no how.... 8)

Not sure if I believe that story either. 20lb test, highly unlikely, and a broken rod? I have seen a couple of fishing shows were they were going for Gator Gars and on both shows, The Next Bite with Pete Maina and Facts of Fishing with Dave Mercer, they were using steel line. Guess everyone embelishes a little sometimes.....

I do remember that these beasts can be kept out of the water for a long time, I mean hours without any harm to them, unlike other big fish like Pike and Musky. Thats why you always have people posing on banks with Gars for multiple pictures.

The horrendous picture quality and the black outline around the gar are hinting toward photoshop.

doesn't look like photoshop to me, but I just don't get why they poked the eyes out.

Looks like you need something more like 100 lb test to bring it in though.
