Re: Are there trout in the Credit river?

Hello guys,
I wonder if it is allowed to follow the salmon through their migration in the credit river to fish them. What about about fishing at the Norval Dam as Rapa Boy mentioned if that's where they heading to?
thanks

Dodo

Re: Erindale park

All the info you need can be found by googling instead of asking then hoping.

Here's one to start you off on floatfishing shot patterns.

This is very different from bass fishing. The best tips I can give are to make sure your bait is at their eye level and is drifting naturally.

A guy at fishing depot told me the longer the rod the more fish your gonna catch because it keeps your line off the water so your float doesn't drag.

I'm gonna buy a 15'6 okuma rod soon. And once I have enough money i'll get my first centerpin reel!!! Isn't it great?
The long rod will be super useful for me.

Thanks I know i checked the regulations before and see that it says that it has catfish, pike and other fish like bass. I have never seen these fish in the credit, if they are in the credit which months do they come?

You may not have seen them, but you may not have been looking in the right places. Have a look here: http://www.creditvalleyca.ca/recandleisure/fisheriesmaplargeview.htm

Be aware that as you go north into headwaters country, fishing has much stricter regs. I believe north of the Old Baseline Road is single barbless hooks, no live bait, no kill zone all the way up to Island Lake in Orangeville. (kind of like fishing with a coat hanger, but fun anyway) In simpler terms, fly fishing only - mainly for Brooks and Browns. (and there are some nice ones up there, my best is 18.5" on a 5wt.) The OBR is just north of Brampton before the Forks and Belfountain. There is a small bridge there, but downstream leads into a golf course so if you decide on this as an option be sure to have permission. There are also certain areas that are private property above, and some farms have an agreement with Trout Unlimited granting access for people interested in fishing only. Other areas are clearly signed no trespassing.

Re: Does it matter about the brand of the rod and reel you use?

I feel that BassPro has the best selection simply due to the size of the store, but LeBaron has better prices, on average.

Re: Fishing lines for salmon and trout

I use 20 lb braided with 8 lb mono leader.

Can my rod be used for catching salmon?

I have a zebco 5' 6" rod and reel spooled with 8 pound mono test line. Can this be used to catch a salmon or will the line or rod break?

Re: Can my rod be used for catching salmon?

are you for real?

that rod is only good for sunfish.

you should get a rod that is 8'6"~ 10'6" or so length in medium power rating with rod that can handle lure weight upto 3/4oz atleast.
and spool yourself with a powerpro braid line 20lb on a reel that can put on about 200 yards or so.

p.s i would appreciate it if you could maybe not make so many different threads for same topics.
you could either contine on with your existing thread or ask from question from same topic threads.

thank you.

Re: Fishing lines for salmon and trout

Berkley vanish gets a lot of bad reviews.

I would recommend Seagar as a fluoro leader. It's a bit more pricy, but very strong stuff.

I wouldn't use fluoro as main line because it tangles real bad.

Is Berkley vanish fluorocarbon 20 LB line good without any leaders good for salmon?

Berkley Vanish is garbage IMO. Why not just use braid?
