Hey all!
Name's Brian. From lil' ol Chatham Ontario. Just started fishing again after nearly 20 years. I used to fish with my grandfather a ton up in Grand Bend, Ontario on Lake Huron but haven't really been out since he passed.
Now that I am a father of 2, my oldest being 5 years of age, I decided to take him out during free fishing week to a local fishing hole at Rondeau. First two casts landed a Yellow Perch and Smallie. Kinda set the bar a little high for my boy about what fishing is all about but regardless I am now addicted. Hook line and sinker!
I am currently using a cheep walleye rod my wife grabbed off the shelf, med-heavy 6.6 spinner with 10lb mono from what I can tell. I am slowly looking at gearing up with some lures and baits. My son can't get enough of it either.
Being from CK I can fish either Lake Erie, St Clair, or Huron all within a 45 min drive. I also have Point Pelee, Rondeau parks to visit as well.
Most of the fishing around here is Walleye, Perch, Bass as well as Sheephead (Freshwater Drum) and Carp. Plenty of catfish as well. I'm going for the Perch/Walleye/Bass.
Being that I'm new to fishing, especially down this way I'm not sure what fish to catch where, and when the best times to catch them are. I am currently looking for nice little fishing spots using google maps. If anyone from around these parts has any tips I'd love to get in touch. Unfortunately none of my close friends or family are really into fishing. Hopefully I can get some great info here!
See you all in the forums!
