Go-to fishing snack

Getting up really early to go fishing does not mean more fish for me atleast. So I'd rather go later on so I can fry up some pork chops and put them in plastic container with a bagal. Boiled eggs are always great too, easy to make and carry. The Chinese Bakery near me usually has something on special, blueberry danishes, meat buns I'd go in and grab whatever they have.
Grub you going to fish or eat? Now I know where you tag came from habahbaba

When rafting we always have a large cooler with sandwich fixings and all as well as a pan and a camp stove. But its the mornings that are the best. Bank the raft on a sandbar somewhere along the river and break out the eggs, cheese, tortillas, spicy susage, potatoe hash and onions and make one heck of a breakfast burrito. I tell you what, It is totally worth it even though you are CONSTANTLY looking over your shoulder for something else smelling the delicious aroma. :) Food just tastes better outdoors.

Went out years ago expecting some Pike or Bass. We got skunked that morning.
Shore lunch consisted of what we had in the boat. Peanuts, bread and silver dollar potatoes and onion.
What I remember most was peanut sandwiches, not peanut butter, peanuts. Crunchy.

Haha desperate times eh.

I was out camping a few years ago, took us a while to get to our site and we only started fishing at 6:30pm. It was late in the evening and we only had two bass big enough to keep and that was for three dudes in their early 20's who had just portaged all day. We were starving and couldn't go back with just a few fillets...Our solution? Dipping for panfish (perch and bluegill). They tasted delicious but having to fillet a bunch of them on a rock with bugs all around and my friend holding a flashlight so I could see what I was doing really sucked haha.

A lesson to us all. Don't rely on shore lunch no matter where you are or you may become "Survivor Man." He eats some gross shitte, no matter how good he says it is. I have eaten a lot of what he eats on survivor courses I have taken. It is OK when you are starved, but not really that good if you had a choice. Bugs may have protein, but when you are lost in the bush, their wings get caught between your teeth. Not pleasant with no toothbrush.

Usually some form of protein bar/water. Get annoyed carrying round a water bottle though so I usually just end up delirious on the river bank somewhere. Perhaps if I kept fueled better I'd catch more fish.

Wait, You used a dip net to catch perch and sunfish?

Alfie: I fully agree with you, best to come prepared.

River: No sorry to confuse you I meant dipping jigs and hooks with soft plastics. We were casting pretty light lures for bass so it attracted a bunch of mid-sized panners near our boat. The next day we did some actual netting for jokes while denting our whiskey in a sandy bay (awesome drinking game) but just got toothpicks and let everything go.

might help you catch more catfish if you touch your bait.

More water than I need and a Wendy's #2 classic double combo!

For longer trips, it is usually pepperoni sticks, string cheese and drink boxes to peck at while on the water. Canned beans and homemade pulled pork boil bag for the campfire. A couple tallboys to wash it all down!
