Smashed a dollar store spoon (not Dollarama), I replaced the treble that came with it with a larger one and it works like a charm. Just a very plain silver spoon with a scale pattern.

Saw two small raccoons hunting what looked like crayfish this evening, pretty neat to see them in action like this. Much different than catching them rummaging through your compost and growling at you! They can be as hideous as they can be cute.

Fished from about 8pm to 10:30pm. My favourite time for bass. I managed to avoid the rain. There are so many crayfish in that section, I was even catching them on a spoon with a fast retrieve. These smallies are not going hungry.

Nice Smallies Salmo!

- Good sizes on those ones

The Grand River System holds a lot of them (Thankfully)

I've been getting them in Mid Afternoon with the LIVE CRAYFISH.
Never stayed past 8pm to see if the night bite was on.

Obviously it is.

* I was thinking of going out on SUNDAY afternoon (1 hour drive from North York - down the 401)
Anyone interested, give me a pm

what beats river bronzebacks????

I cannot think of any warmwater fish I'd rather battle on light tackle, if freshwater drum jumped when hooked, look out!

good on you for specifing WARMWATER or every steelheader on here with a 13' float rod and a spool of 4 lb leader would be all over ya! smallies are a great fight on light gear even on MH baitcasting when they grow up a little.

Now for more controversy. There is another contender to the world record from Canada. His name is Steven Grail and he probably won't go down in history as the new record holder. Why? Because he ate it! Now that's a true fisherman. It is really quite a funny story, told here in a Canadian newspaper. No hard feelings here.

Yeah and he is holding it so far away from him. It looks way bigger than it is.
The Grand does hold some monsters tho. I have caught a few.

Alfie.

HOLY CRAP!

true....they are impressive fighters and very good at throwing hooks while jumping...but i think they might stay down like a big walleye

do you fish from shore, wade, or boat? and are there any good spots on the river between cayuga and caledonia you'd recommend (besides the dam)
