i headed to Caledonia grand river few times, my spots after dam, but i got nothing. people said it will be better before dam, is it correct. and i went York too, seems like water too shallow there. is there any nice spots between Hamilton and Dunnville, or others close hamilton?

Binbrook so so, because i only bites and fished before 8 am, but they open at 7am, one hour too short, any friend have same experience?

Thanks

Fishing is usually better downstream of a dam if that is what you mean. Don't write off shallow water. As long as there are lots of weeds or wood piles, even a bridge, something that the fish can hide under, aim your casts at that.

Trick to fishing is don't over-think it! If you think a fish may be hiding in that spot, give it a try. If no bite, try the next spot. Eventually it will happen.

you could try below the brantford dam, below the caledonia dam. If I was you, I would stay local though, Hamilton has some awesome fishing opportunities. Fishermans Pier. Bayfront park. More diverse species selection in Lake Ontario / Hamilton Harbour than the Grand River. I live in Cambridge, we have the Grand and Speed rivers coming through our city but I often find myself driving to Hamilton to go fishing. Much larger fish there.

just my 2 cents

plus if you're near hamilton its not a far drive to get to the niagara which have some monsters in there

If you are interested in the Niagara River upper or lower PM me i can help. I fish those water ALOT!!!! ;)

Here are some of the places in Hamilton to fish for carp. A great fun fish to catch.

Fish the grand below dams, above them is dead water. Really depends what you're fishing for, I caught lots of catfish below dunville in the spring between 10 and 20 lbs. They are all back to the lake now though. Some bass and smaller residents cats in the fast water above the dam in dunnville. Lots of dead water on the grand though, these places are still water areas which have little oxygen. But a worm under a float has never done me wrong on the grand upstream of the dunnville dam. PM if you want to know when and how to catch chrome steelies in the lower grand
