I fished at Grenadier Pond this morning. I started fishing at 10:15am the weather was cloudy, with blowing winds. Constantly blowing across the water. Temperature was 16 degrees. It did not rain on me though it threatened. I was throwing a weed less jig with a plastic worm, orange skirt and small crank baits, perch in style. Water was barely visible due to constant wind.

I caught 1 bass and 1 perch. Pictured here.

Caught the bass on weed less jig, and perch on perch.

I was using my Berkley enforcer, with my Quantum SX3. Had 8 lb tests on with a light leader for quick changes.

I fished all along the eastern side of the pond. Starting at the southern end and working my way up north, then back south again. Wind was a problem in a lot of areas…tried the fan technique were possible.

I finished fishing at 1:45pm still under heavy cloud and wind.

I saw a few others out, all using small hooks and shrimp, and plastic shrimp looking things…all tiny.

I shall return…there’s bound to be a huge perch in there.

This time of year we all have to be very careful of the regs. I do think if a c/o dropped by he/she would say you were looking for bass.
As you said,"I saw a few others out, all using small hooks and shrimp, and plastic shrimp looking ....: this is not bass bait by any means...jigs,skirts worms, the c/o may think bass.
I know when Im out fishing this time of year, and the bass are hitting I move along. You are actually taking bass off thier beds, leaving the nest vulnerable to predators such as blue gill/ perch. So, catching OOS bass is not a good thing even if you re practicing c/r.

My 2 cents.

You are right, of course...I was un prepared for this trip...I tryed throwing the smallest things I had in hopes of some perch, I was promp in sending the little bass right back...a quick snap and away it went...I will be better prepared next time I promise.

Hey did you remove the bass pic? Just wondering

Hey not a big deal, no one here knows what circumstances you were under. I know what the c/o's might have said...but thats another story. Its all about education. Some people think its no big deal as long as you throw them back. Not realizing your are stopping the bass from protecting its nest, thus decreasing the amout of survivors who will go big and strong. Its all realative.
But keep posting for sure we all enjoy them!
