Ontario Fishing Forums

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

Hagi - stick around for a while - make a couple friends and hook up with people. Every so often people post here lookin' to hook up.

JDean - lotta forums operate in this same fashion - we here are actually quite friendly

GB2 - nice set of spoons - delicious!

I went to BPS on Tuesday (and got out of there under $70) and got talking with a few of the guys. They were telling that the steel is way upstream when talking about a specific west trib. In some cases north of Hwy 7 and beyond. I think I may go for a trip around the Bolton area and scout a few spots. I had spoken to a few more people that I work with and all have said the same thing the fish are all are way up stream. I'll be sure to post any result if I make it up there.

Cheers,

following up on my Bolton trip, got to spend a few hours walk the banks, I found 4-5 nice size pools which were holding a good amount of fish. Good luck and tight lines this weekend.

Spending money on a guide can be a very good investment when starting out. The way I see it there are two ways to get to where you need to go.

1. Buy the experience with a guide
2. Put in time and legwork on the river and figure it out.

When I first started I wasn't on any forums an it took more than a year before I had my first steelie on. Thank god I landed it....

Some people are lucky and have option three available to them which is really the best option of them all.

3. A close friend or family member to mentor you.

There are also some videos on YouTube from Izumi and Italo that can show you the basics, I wouldn't expect much to be posted on an open forum in the "fishing spot" category.

I definately agree with you NADO, using all possible sources of information is always a good idea. However sometimes I'm not a fan how some will simply disregard someone who is new or simply looking for a "starter" spot. As anglers we should act as a co-op and share information as much as possible.
