Thinking of heading NW this weekend to a H trib. I went a couple years ago around this time of year, and man there was some really fresh fish seen. Is it typical for the same species O. tshawytscha to run the same time/season?

The drive for me is a few hours, so I just want to be sure.

Much appreciated. :)

more or less. within a two week window depending on light cycle first then water levels/temps second.
im thinking this year might be on the earlier side as of right now. ive heard good things from a few buddies up there already. mainly near the mouths.

good luck bud

experienced the same thing. specs and browns at some headwaters were a nice consolation prize. Save your gas money.

Didn't end up going but looking to head out tonight and tomorrow night to test out some new moonshine spoons. I can't decide now between NW H trib, or East O trib. Heard mixed info from the H tribs that there have already been a few runs, but nothing solid. Just want 1 solid fight even if I don't land, love the adrenaline rush.

Anyone heading to O tribs at all this weekend?

maybe monday morn! or tuesday! what ever day the rest of the general public dont have off!!!

Ya unfortunately I'm probably not gonna make it out to a lake o pier this weekend, can't imagine what the QEW will be like much less the pier! Maybe I'll try to get some chrome fresh steel instead.

I am thinking of waiting another week for the Lake H trib trip. Its almost a 3 hr drive for me. Think I'll give the O tribs a shot tonight and tomorrow.

Got a ton of new spoons, and plugs I want to try out. Will salmon hit the non-glow spoons/plugs etc at night? I have heard mixed comments about this.

If you are lucky enough to put one right in front of a fishes nose the could take it but you'd be much better off with glow spoons.

So had an interesting night at a Lake O trib/pier last night...

Saw someones rod go torpedoing into the water as they were "bottom fishing" for salmon using roe bags. Rod shot out like a rocket into the river.. lost all their gear any everything.

Then about a couple hours later I tried a new flicker shad plug, and bam! I was hooked up!... or was I??? Turns out, I hooked up to the fish which had 3 sets of hooks in it belly from the dude who lost his gear. The fish was almost dead by the time I got it in and untangled from my line/lure.

Beyond that, tons of action at the end of the pier but it was shoulder to shoulder ppl there not willing to move or really allow anyone to even come take a glimpse. Mentioned to someone there.. "wow, you guys are doing well over here..." he replied... "ya, you really have to know what your doing.." -_- "You should use braided line, you'll never catch these on mono.." Huh???? What you mean throw the same spoons and flash them with the same UV light and same retrieve?? Its obvious that the water is deeper at the end, colder at the end and they are pooling up right at the mouth and not really coming into the rivers yet.

Could see a few jumping a bit outside of casting reach as well more into the freshwater.

Going to give it a couple more days, and try my luck there again. See if I can "really know what to do" :p ... & hookup to a beast.

22lbs, female. Still decently fresh as well. To be honest I don't eat fish, but I absolutely love the sport of it. I can't wait to hook up to another one.
