Anybody around Hamilton that knows some good fishing spots? It would be great if I could find some new spots to fish other than the popular places (Hamilton Harbour, Grand River). I've fished those places a lot and want to try somewhere else. Maybe some locals ponds within Hamilton with bass and/or pike? Thanks for the input everyone!

I'm in Hamilton, but rarely pursue bass + pike...some good bodies a little north...Mountsberg etc. Try some of our area rivers...

For me, if you go after bass and pike in that area Mountsberg is the best bet. I went there few times and it was pretty good .... it was worth coming from Toronto :)

Hey Hamiltonangler. I'm also in Hamilton. The Grand is a very good river to well north of Kitchener-Waterloo. Have you fished it's entire length, it is well worth exploring. I have heard Guelph Lake and Valens hold Pike and Bass but have never tried them. The Speed and Eramosa Rivers which hook up with the Grand in the Cambridge area hold Pike and Bass. ( I have fished them.) I find a lot of spots by just looking at a map and then exploring back roads. I can't really name the bodies of water as I don't know the names.

I live near hamilton. Fish at bayfront park. Use topwater plastic frogs if you're fishing from shore. If you are fishing from boat then its your choice! I've pulled out some big bass in there.

Hi Alfie, I have fished most of the Grand River, but focus on the stretch from Caledonia to Dunnville. I've had good success in the north section of the Grand as well. I have also fished at Valens and can be a great lake at times. I've never tried Guelph Lake, and I'll make sure to try that out as well. Thanks for the advice!

Hey MaxHook....ive heard many great things about Mountsberg and will be sure to try it out in the next week or two as long as the weather cooperates. Thanks!

Agreed Caledonia to Dunnville is a great stretch. I do really well along there but have yet to catch my first Grand River Chrome.
Keep in mind I mentioned I never tried Guelph Lake myself, that I was only repeating what I have heard :)

Alfie.
