I've been told that there is good fishing in the harbour. I've seen plenty of people fishing from shore but I want to put my boat in the water and fish away from the crowds.

Does anyone know where in the harbour is the best place to park your boat ( I have a 10' Zodiac ) and fish for pretty much anything? It's not likely I would attempt to eat any of them due to the soup of chemicals that must be there but it's nice to just enjoy the day and catch a few. I hear there are bass, pike, walleye and even sheepshead. Is this accurate for the most part?

I have tried to find fishing maps of the harbour but there seems to be no mention of this area. The big lake just in front of Burlington seems to offer little structure but I may be wrong on that point. I live on the mountain and am just looking for a place to go where I don't have to plan the whole day just to put my boat in a fish for a few hours.

Any help would be appreciated.

good luck finding a map. its generally deep water all around. the bays and marinas will have shallow weedy waters to fish for largies and pike. sheepies are there and will hit anythin. good luck finding walleye, some there but few and far between. tons of carp, perch crappie and sunfish as well. fish docks and trees for largies, spinnerbaits for pike. pretty much gotta go out and cover water. its been tough this year. bayfront park is ur best bet, free launch and lots of parking.

Thanks, I have a fish finder so will cruise a bit checking depths to get an idea of the bottom contours. I imagine I'd be catching tar balls anywhere near the steel plants. Do the marinas get upset if you fish there? I would think that even if you stayed off to the side they might not like you anchoured inside their mooring areas. I guess you mean that fishing just outside the mooring slips is okay.

nah, they;re ok with u fishing in the marinas. as long as u respect them and their boats and ur not whacking jigs off them, ur fine.
