Went down with MikeH on Friday (Thanksgiving Weekend) to Niagara Falls.
Met Italo down there!

We met up with Lorne (HammerCarp) and his Friend "Roger" in Hamilton Harbour on the way Back.
These guys sure have their "Carping" down.

Was a pleasure to learn some techiques and see them in action.

Notice the huge jaw muscles on that large goby . This is how they tear loose zebra mussels and why they are a pain in the butt if you use canned corn or other soft baits. They can even shake your bait until the bait stop comes loose and take your bait off of a hair rig.

I remember a thread a while back that talked about netting fish that were not hooked. Would that not have been an illegal catch? Not criticizing, just wondering? Thanks. Nice carp BTW.

In this situation the fish "WAS PROPERLY" hooked and caught, May i also add by very experienced & ethical fishermen.

Just as the net was about to do it's job, the hook came loose.
Techniquely ... there "Could be" some sort of a GREY ZONE.

However, any SANE MINDED CO would certainly see the circumstances and no action other than a PAT on the BACK and Congrats would be in order.

In the heat of the moment I did not think about it. I did think about it afterwards. Since the fish was released it is a moot point. Keeping the fish would have been a no no.

It probably wouldn't matter for Carp if it was hooked or not. You are allowed to spear fish carp.

I'm going carp fishing tmw hopefully will have something to share with you guys as well.

You gets met Italo Labigano down there?? I saw that episode when he was fishing right by the falls a couple weeks ago. That is pretty sweet that you guys did!!
