heading to rice lake

hihi! plan on heading out to rice lake this saturday, but have no idea what kind of fish are there, I search the internet and ask other fishermen, but they differ was wondering if there's a good spot to fish for crappie from shore, bass, walleye, not after them big ones. just panfish, little help cos its my first time leaving my area

Lots of weedbeds and mudflats. Great action for large mouth this time of year, senkos have been very hot in white, and hot pink. Also having lots of luck on sweet beavers, I have a lot of confidence in the "juicy", watermelon, and watermelon red colours!

The dam at hastings is a great walleye spot early in the season but I would suspect your looking at mostly bass and a few eyes in there now

thx a lot i will go check those spots.. fishing from shore for bass or even those walleyes. was told its a good crappie spot, but was also told its late for crappie. i want to gives those wwalleye a go, or them roaming pike. see what i land when i get there

there are no pike in rice lake... or at least native pike. I have been hearing about pike being caught from rice lake which is really bad news for the native muskies.

I fish rice lake all summer every summer and still yet to see a pike. Believe me I know my pike and the day I manage to catch one, I will make sure you all know. If pike end up there that will just be bad damage overall!

hmm.. how come?? arent pike and muskie's d same? at least they look the same.

Iv heard of pike being caught towards Hastings end of rice.. Which would make sense because pike are in seymour.. Iv also heard of some being caught in the river..

Pike and Muskie are not the same at all.. Look the same but pike will take over that lake and rest of the kawartha's.. Much more aggressive than a muskie

Actually now that I think about it, I heard someone hooked into a pike in hastings end. Which river are you referring too? The indian?

i caught a 2lbs small mouth there a last week and a walleye

The otonabee river.. I believe I read some where online about some one catching a pike there

back from rice lake trip, was nice, although wish there were more trees to hide from the sun, got lots of bites, mostly sunfish i believe. oh oh oh!!! and i got something big, very big, very very big patch of sunburn on my back. hahahah. once in a while i like to take home a few, though they would;'ve been easier to fillet if they were a lot bigger, biggest i caught was 10" inches bluegill. almost caught a bass, it was only 2 more metres away from me. but when it did its 3rd jump i lost it. whooooo that was a fight, first time hooking a bass kids had fun too, they dip their line and seconds later rockbass & sunfish would get hoooked. looking to go to another lake, taking suggestions. 1 - 2 hours away from toronto

Pigeon Lake is very productive. Key tip for bass. I know watching the jump is always quite the site, but to prevent the fish from tossing the hook out on you, keep your rod tip down almost in the water when the bass is about to jump.

oooooh muskies! going to have to change my line for them, i only have a 8lb mono on my reel, going to purchase braided line. so i wont have to worry about it snapping on strike. happened too many times just on big size bass, or maybe its my knots..

I was there last week for 4 days. Been fishing there for over 10 years. I can confirm there are Pike there now. First pike I ever caught in Rice Lake. In the Roseneath area.

something that big, even though an invasive species, I couldn't kill it. I let it go right after the photos.
