Well guys went to valens & caught nothing but perch, got there around 6am went on the bridge hoping to take advantage of prime time fishing but nothing was biting it was really cold 8 degrees smoke coming off the water so i didn't waste much time freezing & frustrating myself because i knew it was a cold front shutting down fish activity, i headed back to the car until around 8:30am i headed back to the bridge where i met 1 angler who a few small perch anyways i fished for a bit ended up catching 1 perch myself was getting bites but don't think it was from any other species. At 10:30am i decided to head back to the car since it was too hot & not good fishing conditions. I decided to take a walk down to the boat rental area where i saw 1 angler preparing his boat to head out & a few that was already on the water fishing, since my original plan was to rent a boat i paced back & forth while observing the boaters looking to see if anyone was reeling in any fish there was nothing no action at all since i had my nephews with me & my observations of the other anglers it really made no sense renting the boat. I then decided to walk around the park a bit & spend some time with my nephews it was a beautiful scenery & nice people. At 4pm we decided to head back to the bridge their were 5 anglers already there no one caught anything but small perch, i set my rod out worm, bobber & hook setup casting in different areas no bites whatsoever whenever i got frustrated i went back to the spot where the perch were biting to cheer myself up they were their caught a few even though they were pencil like size. Later on in the evening a lot more anglers came then i got my hopes up hoping that the king size sunfish that were in abundance last year will show up but they never did like they went into extinction. Even though i hadn't caught a decent size fish i still had a great time with my nephews, the prech give them some good fishing practice & they did very well the younger one caught about 5 perch showed a lot of courage to bait his own hook & wasn't afraid to remove the fish from his hook, as for the other who i had to stop from fishing because he was afraid to touch worms & fish he finally started doing it in the end. Every year that goes by the fishing seems to be getting more tough last year at valens when i saw people taking away all those big sunfish the question ran on my mind would their be more left & after yesterday i guess we are finding out the cold truth, i was at Glen Haffy couple weeks ago out of 20 anglers only 1 caught 2 trout I don't even want to mention my disappointments at rice lake, when i watch canadian sport fishing on tv & i see pro anglers like italo who will acquire the assistance of & outfitter to put them on the fish or other pro anglers who will go way up north to make their fishing show & will even say the reason why they go their is because of less fishing pressure it all makes sense now, it's really a sad story to know that the lakes are being depleted due to the fishing pressure. I hope that the ministry can make certain lakes catch & release in order to replenish fish stock. Anyways you guys feel free to comment.
