Happy New Year Everyone! I have been "lurking" off and on for about two years. Have now joined.
I have ice fished primarily on Simcoe for over 35 years. Great place. I was out yesterday in the Gilford area. Tried out my new ice hut. Blustery day- must have been - 30 with the wind chill. Saw a couple of portable huts collapse from wind.
Ice is at least 15 inches.. and good and clear. Not too much snow cover (2-3 inches). Fishing for perch had been good but yesterday was very slow and primarily dinks. In spite of everything it was a great day. Will have a chance to go again after we get back from Mexico (family vacation). Lots of luck to everyone.
